2008 - New Beginnings!

How wonderful it is that every year, January first comes along and we all get to start all over again. It's like getting another chance! All the promises that were left broken are removed from New Year's List and just like us, these promises too get another chance!
Even though I am writing this a little late in the month, I don't want us to lose faith or site of our goals. I have chosen to hang my list on the refrigerator so every morning when I go for my protein shake :) I face the long list of my pending wishes that I have committed to make happen. So far although my work out sessions have started to dwindle a bit I am still working on the mental side of it. Mentally I have arranged for tennis lessons, yoga classes and I have even gone so far as to put the cards into my wallet. I have not yet made the call but I am one step closer to at least two goals on my list. Isn't it said that accomplishments are achieved one step at a time! LOL
I have also logged on to Plumtv.com where they post a calendar with all local events. And although I have not actually gone to any of them just knowing that they are available at the convenience of a button, makes me feel better!
It all begins with a thought and hopefully our goals will become actions in 2008!
One of my goals this year was to travel and get to know the beautiful historic side of our country. I was raised on the west coast where I had the pleasure to see the whole coast line of California, which was absolutely beautiful! Now I have been living on the east coast for the past 6 years and haven't seemed to make it out of Miami! So this year, I was determined to change this and my first east coast adventure will be a road trip travelling from Miami to Savannah, GA. Over the years I have heard nothing but wonderful stories about the old world charm of Savannah, mixing in the hospitality from the South and a touch of French influence from colonial times. And although this may take me away a little from my weigh loss goals, I am travelling with hopeful taste buds! I am taking along my faithful companion, my Puppy Guppy and a good friend. With a little luck I will meet a Southern Gentleman and then I will be two steps forward and only one step backwards into my list.
Don't lose site of your goals. Post them wherever you know you will see them everyday and start by taking baby steps, even if it is only putting the cards in your pocket or marking a page in a calendar. Remember always that accomplishments are achieved one step at a time. Good luck and happy new year!

Dance the Dance!

I hang around women all the time that seem to think that they have FOREVER to find happiness. When often times, forever never comes. They think to themselves if they could only look a certain way, lose a certain amount of weight, basically, change something in their body, it would then bring happiness. As I get older I realize I have set myself these same unrealistic ideas. I have passed up opportunities to frolic on the beach in a bikini, wear the little red hot dress, flirt with the hot guy next to me and dance the night away. Lacking the ability to enjoy who I was at that moment made me shut down and not live many happy moments that came across my way. This makes me very sad . I wish that all women could see themselves as worthy of happiness regardless shapes and sizes. When men are unhappy they attack the world and women, on the other hand attack themselves. Notice that men, allow vast limits to their personal handling of their disatisfactin as for us, we limit all our grunges on our frames.
If we could only realize that it's not the perfect figure or face that generates joy! Happiness is a frame of mind and you can chose to be happy at 300 Lbs just as easy as at a size 0. Some of the women that I have met, who have spent their live striving for perfection, whether it would be plastic surgery or killing themselves at the gym 7 days of the week are some of the saddest people you will ever meet. So it should not be our looks that should be our focus, it should be happiness itself.
I heard a quote once from a very wise older woman who sad, youthfulness is wasted in the young! So wherever you are in the ladder of life, smile, be happy and realize life will be gone in an instant and at the end all that would have mattered is how much fun you had along the way.
I know without a doubt that one day we will all look back and say... we should have danced the dance.

Modern Day Pin Up Girl!

Who would have thought that throughout these years women have been starving themselves trying to fit into -1 sizes only to find out that men are hard wired by genetic sublime thoughts that are nature generated. As "un-sexy" as it may sound, men desire women with big hips, and small waists. This is nature whispering in their ears they would be fertile ground to carry their family genes.
For the past three generations women been deriving their opinion on feminine sexiness dictated by fashion and design trends when we should really been looking for clues in men's magazines where women have curves. Even when your own man is telling you look great with the extra meat on your bones, we do not believe them! I remember once showing my boyfriend the picture of a model on a magazine and bragging about her perfect looks when he looked over and said : " She may be pretty, but she is not hot!" When I asked why, he simply said: "She's got no curves, no tits, no ass, no fun!"
It is nice to see that the trend setters in Hollywood and the Fashion World are finally starting to revert the tendency back in time to the quintessential pin up girl! The modern day pin up girl has come to stay thanks to women like Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Eva Mendez, Salma Hayek, Anne Nichole, Charlize Johanssen, Jessica Alba, just to name a few.
We women have wasted too many years working very hard at being feminists, failing to understand the immense power of being truly feminine as well! Please don't misunderstand, I believe wholeheartedly in the feminist movement and what it has done for all of us. But I also think, that beauty along with intelligence can go twice as far!
So eat a sandwich, grab a burger and remember men love curves; do not be so hard on yourself! A size one is no longer in Vogue!
